day with the gk's

We  stopped in here for lunch

You'd be surprised what you can learn when you sit outside and have a conversation with the grand kids.

We took cuttings from a Euonymus Japonica bush and planted them in these peat pots.

I don't know why her momma thinks she has an attitude. Do you think she has an attitude?

Spring has arrived and so have our several varieties of daffodils.

drawing

When I retired I decided to develop some of the talents that have lain dormant all the years I spent earning a living.  I've always like to draw so I'm using the grand kids as models.  Here's a portrait of 8 year old Hunter:

quote of the day

A vast body of psychological evidence shows that the pleasures of consumption wear off through time and depend heavily on one's frame of reference.  Most of us, for instance, occasionally spoil ourselves with outbursts of deliberate and perhaps excessive consumption; a fancy spa treatment, dinner at an expensive restaurant, a shopping spree.  In the case of the very wealthy, such forms of consumption can become so commonplace as to lose all psychological benefit: constant luxury is, in a sense, no luxury at all.

risk of radiatiion

Does it worry you that radiation from Japan's nuclear catastrophe may travel with the weather  in our direction? Scientists say the possibility of negative effects to our heatlth is very small. I'm not reassured. The New York Times has put together an interactive map that forecasts the dispersal of radiation by the weather patterns of next week.  You can see it here: New York Times/science

awakening

Like the daffodils that respond to the light and warmth of the sun, I too am emerging from my annual bout with SAD.
